Illiad pg. 266-275 lines 521-869 due Wed. 2/28

1Q) Write a question you have about the text, either an interpretive question that you have an opinion on, or something that you don't understand. You don't need to write the answer.
1A)Is Achilles so encased in his pride he ingores his allies' cry for help?

2Q) What was your opinion of Achilles before reading Book 9? Does it change after reading Book 9? Explain why or why not.
2A)I see him as more arrogant than i did before, but then again it is slightly justified, so my opinion didn't change much.

3Q) Same as yesterday - Make a list of the persuasive strategy used by these characters
3A) Who is speaking?
Ajax

What does that person say and to whom does he say it?
He is speaking to Achilles, trying to persuade him to help the Achaeans.

What persuasive strategy is it?
Appeal to Reason

Why is it an example of that strategy?
Because he is trying to tell Achilles that he is being a fool with the situation, and that he is un-honorable for not helping his comrades.

Who is speaking?
Achilles

What does that person say and to whom does he say it?
hes talking to the people who went to reason with Achilles

What persuasive strategy is it?
Appeal to Emotion

Why is it an example of that strategy?
Because he is trying to tell the men that he should not have to fight for Agamemnon and that Agamemnom should be fighting in his own wars.
