Well one time i was playing football and i was doing real well. I thought i was so good that i good whoop on anyone who tried to play. so one day after school i was playing with some tenth graders and they wanted to play tackle so i agreed. I was getting smashed everytime i turned around. Im not saying I lost but all im saying is that i really paid for my pride.
2). How was your pride, or the other person's, similiar or different to that of Achilles?
well i really dont see a similarity between my pride and achilles except the fact that achilles and i were both prideful over a skill type of thing, for example footbal or fighting or running...etc..

DUE THR 3/1 Iliad Reading
1. What does Patroclus propose to Achilles and what is Achilles’ response? Why does Achilles grant Patroclus’ request? I think what Patroclus proposes to Achilles is that he wanted to fight the men who were going to set fire to the ships. I think Achilles let Patroclus do this because Achilles said in book nine that he would not fight unless fire was set to the ships so maybe he let patroclus fight so the ships would not burn.
2. On p. 413 line 35 (approximately), Patroclus tells Achilles that Achilles is “cursed in [his] own courage.” What does Patroclus mean by that and do you agree with him?
2.Well i think that patroclus is trying to say that Achilles is so courageous that it is possible to hurt his self and well being. I agree with patroclus because going back to the movie when he was the first one on shore and started fighting with about only 20 men, I think that it would have been possible for him to die because he was courageous.

2Q) What was your opinion of Achilles before reading Book 9? Does it change after reading Book 9? Explain why or why not.
2A)I see him as more arrogant than i did before, but then again it is slightly justified, so my opinion didn't change much.

I really do not have any questions about the text so far. But overall I really like book nine it is a little interesting and is a nice book to read.
2.What was your opinion of Achilles before reading Book 9? Does it change after reading Book 9? Explain why or why not.
Well in this section the person i most saw a change in would have to be agamemnon because i thought he was a self centered guy who really didnt give a piss about anyone else. In this book he is a much better person and tries to make amends for what he had said earlier to Achilles but Achilles refused to accept amends. I did however see a change in Achilles because he is even more obnoxious and more of a trader and lets the achaens fall.

He is speaking to Achilles

Because Odysseus keeps trying to use his words to make Achilles feel bad for the Achaeans, and use that sadness in order to make him fight with the Achaeans and help them kill the Trojans.

He is speaking to Odysseus and the men who went with him to see Achilles
